Welcome to

Avon is a "destination wedding" for us too! Like most Colorado ski towns, Avon has shops, restaurants, and amazing access to outdoor activities. We’ve included some of our recommendations below. We hope you make the most of your weekend and enjoy the many wonderful activities Colorado has to offer!

IN AVON

FLY FISHING

We highly suggest hiring a guide for this classic Colorado activity! You can either do a wade or float trip but we recommend a float trip so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery while on the river (also, it’s easier). Check out these local Fly Fishing Outfitters to help plan your trip!

Fun Fact: Drew proposed to Autumn while they were fly fishing, so it holds an extra special place in both their hearts!

NOTE: You will need to get a Colorado Fishing License beforehand, but your outfitter/guide can help you with this.

GOLFING

If you love to golf, then you should definitely try golfing at 8,000 feet! Golf balls travel further at altitude and the mountain views are hard to beat. Check out either of the following public golf courses: Beaver Creek Golf Course, Vail Golf Course , and Eagle Vail Golf Course.

HANGING LAKE

One of the most beautiful lakes in Colorado located in the White River National Forest! This 3.4 mile out and back trail is steep and challenging. The trail gains 1,200 feet of elevation in just over a mile. It’s a bit of a drive from Avon (45 minutes one way), but is so worth it. To preserve the beauty of this lake, Glenwood Springs has implemented a permit system. Summer permits are $12 per hiker and include parking. Check this website in February or March to book a reservation for the wedding weekend.

HIKING

There are countless hikes all around Vail Valley. We recommend downloading the All Trails app to find some local favorites around the valley. The app will tell you difficulty and length of hike.
